Harold Ford supports writing discrimination into the US Constitution

Below the fold are two letters that I wrote to the Harold Ford campaign after seeing him speak at an event for Mark Warner. Ford gave one of the best speeches at the event. While Ford's politics are to the right of mine, I think it is important to get a democrat into Tennessee senate seat. With that said I find it both politically and morally impossible to support a democrat who supports the Federal Marriage Amendment.
Please contact the Ford campaign and ask him why he supports writing discrimination into the constitution.

Defend Social Security, Turn Up the Heat on Lieberman
Mon Feb 28, 2005 at 10:34:26 AM PDT
Josh Marshall ( http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com ) has been a leading voice regarding the Bush Administration's efforts to phase-out Social Security and replace it with the risk (and debt) of private accounts .
Sen. Joe Lieberman is the weak point in the defense of social security. The key phrase for me is "on the table" (check out the post on Lieberman's site http://lieberman.senate.gov/issues/health.html#socialsecurity). The phrase "on the table" has been coming up a lot in republicans circles and talking points. To me it is more of chopping block than a "table". As Josh has pointed out, this debate has never been about "saving" social security, but creating a very slippery slope to phasing out social security.
